Show ORPHANS HOME GoofL ork Done There By the Free Kindergarten About the first of May the Free Kindergarten Kin-dergarten association opened a kindergarten kinder-garten for the younger cfidren in the Orphans home on State street Miss Ruby Wells and Miss Pearl Woodmansec members of the training I class were placed in charge and the closing exercises on Friday morning consisting of speeches games and songs showed very careful and painstaking work on the part of those young ladies Some members c the bad of directors of the Orphans Home wer present as well as several others visitors all of whom wera greatly Interested in the exercises ex-ercises To one watching the development develop-ment of the children from the first weeK to the close of the term the improvement improve-ment in quickness of apprehension docility do-cility and good fellowship as well as in lightness a grace of movement was very marked thus proving that when kindergarten principles are correctly applied ap-plied a harmonious development is sure to follow folo Among the children was one whose ab normally large bead Indicated a feeble mind Here the increased power in con trolling the movements of the body and limbs was very evident and the delight of the poor child when she found that she could understand and do things liko other children was quite touching I The training of the kindergarten tpaohes children to govern themselves They are led to choose the right of their own free will thus strengthening the moral nature The lesosns in politeness gentleness and consideration of others are invaluable invalu-able in preparing for future life in tha word whilo the manual dexterity exactness ex-actness and neatness developed in the weaving moulding and sewing arc the se1nb taI foundation for success in larger work The Free Kindergarten association hope I to resume the good work at the Orphans Or-phans Home in the fall |
