Show I officialsWITH GREAT FERVOR EPWORTH LEAGUERS PRAY OX LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN 1VI11 Flerltt tbe Saloon Until itlte Deadly Foe i Destroyed Throughout Through-out the Laud Chattanooga Tenn June 29The third day of the great international Epworth League conference was opened with a sunrise prayer meeting on the brow of Lookout mountain which was more of a success than the one of yesterday morning morn-ing The attendance was largely in excess ex-cess and the Mthcdist fervor was at the I highest pitch The day was largely spent in hearing papers and addresses on matters mat-ters of interest to working leagues The morning was given to the consideration of Methodist hymnolog and < the best religious gious training for the youth of the church The afternoon was given to the discussion of the spirited side of church work The afternoon was closed with a special drill of tho Epworth Daughters of Brazil led and an illustrated lesson by Miss Daisy Olds of Denver Colo called Christians and Scissors The I children sang and marched with banners flying upon the big choir platform Bishop Galloway ot the Southern Methodist Episcopal church then presented resolutions pre-sented the report of the committee on I The announcement of the selection of Toronto as the place of the next meeting cvole wild applause So did the reading I read-ing of that section which committed the young people of the league to an unending un-ending war on the liquor tram The following are the most important sections of tho report I Resolved That we are unalterably committed to the prohibition of the liquor traffic and we are determined to fight the saloon till this deadly foe is destroyed in all our land We urge our Epworth League everywhere every-where to do all in their power to maintain the sanctity of the Lords day Especially wo express the hope that the Epworth Leaguers will make the coming Sabbath the occasion of excursions excur-sions and pleasure seeking We exhort our youn people to study keep track of and expedite by all the lawful law-ful means in their reach the cause of good citIzenship Tho new generation now upon the scene confronts a great opportunity op-portunity in connection with this movement move-ment The purification of our municipal I government is vitally associated with the work of the evangelization While our I Epworth leagucrs emulate and imitate the noble example of those who hear and te heed the bitter cry of the outcast in our cities large and small they should also cItes lare aid as opportunity may serve in the work of redeeming our municipal government from corruption and in the task of putting put-ting the right officials in the lead in the conduct of city affairs afair Fraternal greetings were sent to the Frteral tng se Christian Endeavorers Boston meeting of Christan Endeaorers and to the Baptist Young Peoples union ad Y B Murray D D ot Jackson Miss presided over the morning session Devotions De-votions were led by Rev H L Kindig of Lebanon Ind Methodist Hymns were interestingly discussed by Rev Charles Stuart D Dot D-ot Chattanooga and S B Turentine of Winston N C lston t Methodist Fervor was the subject of Littlefield a stirring X address A of by Watertown Rev Charles Mass M The Catholicity of Methodism was of responded to by Rev t B Cruze Canada The Biographical Embodiment of Methodism formed the theme for Rev Jesse Bowman Young D D of St Louis The religious culture of children was reH1lous D I discussed by Rev James C Morris discUsed D of Birmingham Ala r J R Woodcock of Weeping Water Neb and Rev Paul C Surnich of Springfield Ohio During the session this morning the conference voted to send a fraternal mes J M Fitz sage of greeting to Bishop 1 gerald greetng E church who is in Berne Switzerland Tho resolution was introduced by General Secretary Edwin Schnell of the Epworth League of theM the-M E church and was eloquently seconded sec-onded by Bishop O P Fitzgerald of their the-ir E Church South |
