Show S P Kjectiiient Committee The Herald exclusively published a story some weeks ago telling how a passenger was put off one of the S P trains coming east and how on his I return to San Francisco ah the S P olficials fell over themselves in doing him homage They had made the biggest big-gest mistake of their liyesit wasnt a scalped ticket the man was riding on Now comes another funny case The Southern Pacific has what is known as jan I I j-an ejectment committte composed of throe of its oldest conductors who I go out on the trains leaving for the I east and north and when a passengers passen-gers signature which they request does not correspond to that on the ticket he is fired off the train The other day a wellgroomed mm was coming east on the raturn portion of a ticket and when the committee asked him to sign h refused By dint of coaxing he finally signed in a little book But the signature was scrawls and nothing like the fine script hand displayed on the ticket I The man was asked to get off or pay full fare Did he Not then But I tlte committee got him off afterwards No blood was spilt Mr Man did not seem at all dismayed or very angry I about the incident and one of the committee com-mittee smelled a rat He gave him another chanceand lo the signature t4ien was a facsimile of that on the ticket He signed several times and showed that he could write his name several dozen different styles but still it was his name And now the S P officials are wondering won-dering how much the damage suit will be entered for and again if all this precaution pays in the end Another Ii story is about due |
