| Show GRAIN AND PROVISIONS General Trend ofthe Wheat Market Has Been Downward Chicago Sept 9 Wheat opened weak at a decline of about 24fc Receipts of wheat in the northwest were much heav ier than a week ago and Liverpool was lower The general trend of the market has been downward for several days and this sort of news easily put the balance of trading on the selling side The sell ing pressure at noon was quite heavy but the demand was so light that prices declined de-clined steadily weakness being especially marked in deferred futures The market soon got under puts and at that point became steady under fair buying against I those privileges but did not show signs of any reaction until late in the session when the report of the verdict in the Dreyfus case was posted and the excitement ex-citement In Paris caused covering by shorts Buying however was only suf ficient to bring prices back to abdut yes terdays closing point The market was affected in a bearish way by tho increase of 150000 bushels In the European visible for August compared with a decrease last year of 7800000 bushels The big Russian stocks 8819000 bushels also came as a surprise to traders and was respon re3on sible for some liquidation Toward the I close the market was practically at a standstill Bearish statistics were expected ex-pected Monday and with this belief traders trad-ers were disinclined to do much Decem I her opened ffiJe lower at 71jT71 It declined de-clined to 707t > ½ and rallied to 7114 hIt h-it close September sold a high as 70i gO and closed unchanged at 70 Corn was dull aria Heavy The market got to both daily and weekly puts and had some support on that account December De-cember closed 44 lower Oats were fairly active and irregular The close was about steady December closed unchanged ancl September lost 14 Provisions still showed the effects of the yellow fever news and ruled slightly lower all around Liquidation took place In all froducts biitthe good cash demand for
