Show THE COUNCIL bountiful city council met monday jan 3 1898 10 a in james green city recorder made his annual report which was accepted auditing committee reported that the recorder re corder s books and papers had bad been examined and found them in excellent condition also reported the treasurers treasur ers books in good shape but owing to a clerical error inthe in the report the treasurer would be unable to make a full report warrants were ordered drawn on the general fund one for 7 50 in m favor of barton creek city lots and one for in favor of barton creek farm land the cash on hand in the several water funds was then apkor tinned to the several branch ditches at the disposal of the water claimants of said laterals literals late rals stone creek briggs brig s and tolman ditch 6 prescott cook and goddard ditch 8 south branch ditch and main channel below upper r divide ft 9 north side kirkham ditch 5 centreville Cen treville ditch 11 north centre ditch 39 mill creek city lots upper ditch 10 ci city t y lots coutre centre ditch 10 city lots bryson ditch 10 farming land 7 barton creek city lots 5 barton creek city lots north side 5 city lots and farm north side 1585 it was reported that the attorney for edwin brampton in the injunction water suit had accepted service and waived the right of bond also waived the primary primar Y hearing 0 thereby saving costs to both the city and brampton that moyle had been paid 50 retaining fees and the clerk of district distri ct court ia 5 for his fees and on account of expense off of inal final trial that a restraining order had been orde ordered redby by the second judie judicial f district court subject to final trial tria mayor holbrook made a brief speech dissolved the old and installed the new council mayor willey took the chair ind and there were present councilmen judson tolman alfred Burning burmingham C liam wilford tuttle briham brigham 0 holbrook and joseph corbett and recorder C R jones meeting held wednesday jan 5 a 1898 at 7 p in mayor willey made a few remarks pointing out to the council a few of the thin thins things s that confronted the present tion he alluded to the fact th that at the council had been elected upon the pled j s of an economical administration to the condition of our roads and sidewalks sidewalk 5 md to tb the greatest of all problems lens and the one for which the city was incorporated corp orated the water question said some held the city had no ri right ht to control the water while others contended it did but as there are no rulin ruling za from the court on this question it remained for the future to decide it the mayor then appointed the standing C committees on water tolman holbrook and corbett streets tuttle burningham and holbrook ni finance nance corbett Burning burningham liam and tuttle claims holbrook tuttle and barnin burningham ca hain the appoint rient of israel call I 1 as deputy marshal was confirmed A petition from john K crosby jr askin asking transfer of water right from himself to ida bamberger for five and one twentieth 11 acres acre of land situated in lot two block IK was presented and referred to the water committee claim jr amounting to 5 tor for trying bryin ccase case of bountiful ti ful city vs damns green was allowed the tre treasurers treasur frers ers annual report was read which showed sh owed a balance in the treasury in al I 1 of the funds recorder was instructed to buy two copies of the laws of utah one for the city just ice and one for the council the recorder was instructed to so send nd out applications to the merchants to take out licen licenses sIs and it was understood that neith neitha ar r the mayor nor marshal would ci hect any license except hall and li 11 cen ses from I 1 eh the marshal was instructed to collect adjourned to tues bues jan alth 1898 at 6 pi ni |
