Show suddenly dies of heat failure the cause of education and the public in general loses a very earnest and zealous worker in the death of wm win page who passed aw away adof of heart failure last sunday evening about half past six near burns brick yard while performing his duties as waler master he was talking to mr shafer when suddenly he started to fall mr shafer catching hold of hi his coat easing him to the ground death ensued almost instantaneous ile he took sick on christmas eye eve and had had several severe attacks since but he thought he was gradually improving while the opposite seemed plain to the family ym WW 1 page age 0 was born on the ath of august 1838 in birmingham england I 1 being the son of james and louisa page and the oldest of a family of fourteen children ile he spent his early days in the CRY city of his birth his labors labor be being h 9 in a agn S factory immigrated to t the lie la in 1856 lie he united states leaving england in ihl february and arrived in utah 01 december four years ahead of his fathers family ile he was a member of the last handcart hand cart company that over ever crossed the plains on arriving in salt lake city he found employment in the union gun shop where lie he labored until he be went to meet johnsons army march he was married to mary ann clark and from that time on his home has been at bountiful in 1873 he and others they being the first ever called for that purpose went to arizona to look tor for places for the people to make new homes but three months later he returned home again june the ath 1848 he be was baptized in the church and later became a great sabbath school worker when the south bountiful sunday school was organized he was called as the first abst to the superintendent of that school which position he be held dp to the time of his death he was one of the first home missionaries sent out from south bountiful in politics he was always deeply interested being at one time chairman of the central committee for davis 1 county and served a number of years Rs as justice of the peace and also as district coroner when the old political party de solved he be joined in the democratic ranks much of his bis time was spent looking after the wants of the common schools serving as trustee for five years he was a trustee that teachers and pupils alike will MISS miss his wife eleven children three boys and eight girls together with seven of his brothers one of whom is now in england on a mission and two sisters are left to mourn his loss we feel to sympathize with the bereaved the funeral services Beryl ces will be held today at 2 p m in the south bountiful meeting house |
