| Show A DESPERATE FIGHT I Riley Bonnewitz Tries to Kill Constable Stinson A WEDDING IN DENVER JAIL i Escapade ot a Salt Lake CoupleElliott and Thomas Belcased Bnrned by a Powder Pow-der Explosion BELLEVCE Idaho May 30Special Telegram to THE HERALD IAt Hailey about 1 oclock last night Mrs Bonne witz came running down Main street and asked Constable Stinson to go up to the house and arrest her husband who had beaten her and thrust her out of doors The constable went up to tho houso at the upper end of Main street and called upon Riley Bocnewitz the womans husband to come out Bonnewitz answered that ho would but immediately thrust tho barrel of a shotgun against the constables breast The ofiicer grabbed tho gun barrel and the men began a fight for tho possession of the weapon They fought through two rooms ind Bonnewitz was finally driven against the rear wall of the house when he man jged to pull the trigger The gun was discharged dis-charged but luckily without injury to the officer who was however knocked down 4 and who began to bleed at the nose He thereupon left and came downtown to hunt up the sheriff who met Bonnewitz opposite oppo-site Freemans a few minutes later and who arrested and lodged him in jail to await the arrival of the district attorney District Attorney Barnum went up on the I train and after looking into the matter I drew up a warrant charging Bonnewitz with resisting an officer The trial was set for next Monday and Bonnewitz was I sent to jail in default of bail |
