Show ECKLS ro THE RESCUE He Will Aid the Banks in ery Way Possible I WASHINGTON July 20 Comptroller I Eckcls sent a dispatch to the national bank examiner at Denver today in which he says I wish you would announce to the r officers of the banks which have failed inDenTer in-DenTer my intention to lend them every aid possible looking towards a speedy resumption re-sumption on their part end that 1 shall grant them sufficient time to enable them t to collect such amounts as are speedily i collectible but get togethersuch amounts JIB will enable them to open on a small fwill The comptroller advises the citi i ens who have foolishly brought about 1 the crisis by withdrawing their funds to do the best they can toward repairing the t damage by redepositing He authorizes the examiner to employ assistance in i collecting money to the end in view and has ordered Examlnsr McHugh of Iowa to assist him i t Speaking of tho matter he said the fail II 4 ures are not the fault of the bank officials i but the foolish lack of confidence on the I I part of the depositors In all such cases he would help failed banks to resume |
