Show A Case Strange to Medical Science ISpecialto THE HtnAtD Examiner Dispatch BIRMINGHAM Ala May 2LThomas F Davis was a railroad brakeman He di Fed hero Tuesday night One day in November Novem-ber 18S9 while on his run be was climbing on a box car a rock which projected from the side of a cut through which the train was passing at the time struck Davis in the loft side knocking him off the car While examining the man the doctors s found his heart had been moved over on the right side of his chest eightinches by actual measure from its normal position The doctors said the man would die in a few hours but bo did not and in a few days was able to walk about and suffered very little pain His heart however did not return re-turn to its proper place A few months after his illness Davis began to lose flesh and strength Ho gradually dwindled away until he was little more than a living skeleton After death an autopsy was made and it was found that not only his heart but all his internal organs liver kidneys kid-neys and lungs had been moved from their natural position by the shock which in the end caused his death The doctors said there was nothing in medical science to explain ex-plain how the man lived so long |
