Show A Few Farminston Facts The Young Ladies Mutual Improvement association of Farmington celebrated Mayday May-day in an enthusiastic manner At 10 am the Social hall was crowded to overflowing with an appreciative audience to witness the performance The May Queen The stage was beautifully decorated for the occasion by Miss Clara Leonard and her assistants The piece was a fine one the costumes elegant the singing most enchanting > They f s 1 I t crowned their queen Miss Alice Clarkand placed her upon the throne where surrounded sur-rounded by her maids of honor the graces and tho fairies with their queen Miss Rosabell Robinson she reigned supremo during the remainder of the exercises j which consisted of a choico selection of songs solos recitations and glees well ren dered The afternoon was spent by the young people roaming over the hillside and through the meadows playing baseballetc In the evening a genuine entertainment conducted by Miss Augusta Smalburg and Mrs Aurelia S Rogers was attended by a crowded house Cinderella or the Glass Slipper was creditably performed with Miss Geneva Pyper as Cinderella and Master Willie Robinson as Prince Pauper This was followed by an opera The Secret by about fifty well trained voices This evening the many friends of Miss I Smalburg made her a pleasant surprise inform in-form of a card party at trio residence of Mrs Fred Combs As a token of their appreciation of her labors in training the children they presented her with a beauti I ful photograph album AUGUSTA FAKIIIXGTOX May 2 |
