Show JaOYEREIGN TO SUCCEED I I Forrderlya Resignation Will Be Accepted i i Lfli5 uocnl Philadelphia Nov 26I is tacitly understood today by a majority of the delegates to the general assembly of the Knights of Labor that upon the opening of the session tomorrow morn ing T V Powderlys resignation wH be almost certainly accepted A telegram has been sent to James R Sovereign at Des Moines asking him If he would accept the office which Powderly seeks to vacate I was sent late this afternoon and was signed by nineteen delegates some of whom have heretofore been known as being very friendly to the Interests of Powderly At 730 tonight a reply was received In substance Sovereign said If Powderly has resigned I will accept ac-cept the office of general master workman work-man if it is tendered me and will do all In my power to work for the good of the order This practically puts an end to the controversy now going onThe antiPowderlyltes still hold a vote of 2 which is a majority and upon reassembling tomorrow will get right down to business Caudusses are being held tonight both by Powderlys friends and those of the western favorite for the purpose of getting their forces properly instructed and marshalled for the battle of the ballots bal-lots in the morning Friends of Sovereign are loud in their claims for his victory arid his fitting qualities for the office |
