Show a Republicans Nominate n The Republican county convention met in the county court room promptly at 2 oclock for the purpose of nominating a legislative and county ticket The meeting was called to order by Whiskers Hey wood E M Allison Jr was elected permanent per-manent chairman In the course of his remarks he said Mr Cannon and myself are both members mem-bers of the city council We voted a franchise fran-chise to tho Ogden Street Railroad company com-pany but it was done through a misunderstanding misunder-standing We did not know we were granting a frachise to a Democratic company com-pany After the report of the committee on credentials cre-dentials was adopted Frank T Cannon nominated Captain E T Hulaniski as the candidate for councilor The nomination was made unanimous That part of the performance Having Rone through Ben E Rich presented the name of A B Corey as a candidate for representative John T Wallace named S Painter who declined stating this was not his year E T Wooliey and L L Clark were also named The result of the vote was declared as follows Clark 41 Wooliey 3 Corey 2 Mr Clarks nomination nomina-tion was declared unanimous John L Wallace named for the second representative John T Murphy Ben E Rirh named A B Corey Mr Murphys name was withdrawn A committee was then appointed to notify the county delegation that those from the city had performed their work and were ready to meet with them again The county delegates reported they had nominated David McKay for representative representa-tive John W Gibson of North Ogden was nominated for superintendent of public instruction Lyman Skeen of Plain City and Adam Patterson were nominated for selectmen A committee on resolutions was appointed ap-pointed with A J Baily chairman The committee reported in favor of the changing chang-ing into national party lines in tho territory terri-tory and favoring the general policy of the Republican ticket |
