Show I THE SAX JUAN ROUTE I A Miner Tells how to Get There from I I i Salina The following information is furnished I by a miner who has just returned from i the new gold discoveries in Southern II Utah It has been submitted to other parties familiar with the country who confirm the information Start from Salina and go ten miles south from there you wind over a low range into Grass yalley twenty miles then from Grass valley over another low range to Loa twenty miles Loa is at the head of Fremont river You can go down Fremont river if you like to Hanks ville which is sixtyfive miles and at 1 Hanksville you get into the Green River i road from Green River station but this is not the most lestrable route to follow I From Loa you go down the Fremont river to where Pleasant ereek is thirty I I five miles go down Pleasant creek to r Halls Crossing sixtyfive miles more which road goes along the west and south 1 side of the Henry mountains The entire road from Loa to Halls Crossing s a smooth turnpike and goodgoing in all I i weathers except six to eight miles from i Loa to Thurber which is a little sandy but not much I The entire distance from Salina to Halls Crossing via this route is 140 miles Halls I j Crossing is forty miles above the junction I of the San Juan and Colorado rivers |
