Show I ANTEEOOil ECHOES I TH FRATERNAL ORDERS HAD A BUSY TiME LAST WEEK Installations anti Banquet in the Masonic Order Jood Work in the I O O F Doinsrs of the A O TJW mid Other Orders The fraternal societies were all working work-ing last week and making a good showing generally The attendances were generally good and the interest shown quite up to the usual standard of measurement The approaching holidays will doubtless to some extent interfere with the regular work to some extent but in the meantime things are active I Masonic The Masons have had a busy week in electing and installing officers On Tuesday evening Most Excellent Albion B Emery grand master of Masons in Utah assisted by Grand Marshal L U Colbath installed the following officers in Argenta lodge W 1 William T Dalby S W W R Grant J w H M Cushing treasurer treas-urer John S Scott secretary M C Phillips S D W B Holland J D W P Shelton S S S D Jones J S George T Brice tyler J Fred Corker After the Installation ceremonies cere-monies a banquet was pintaken of in the large room of the Masonic hall Speeches were made toasts drank and a very pleasant social time passed Wasatch Blue lodge had their installation in-stallation on Friday evening Past Grand Master Samuel J Paul assisted by Grand Marshal J F Jack acted as installing officers After work the brethren partook of a banquet and had a pleasant time Following are the names of the newly installed of instaled ficers W 11 J 11 Bowman S W J F Woodman J W Dr Hodges treasurer Herman Hill secretary Adolph Anderson S D H Goldberg J D S D Evans Utah Commandery No 1 on Thurs day evening installed the following officers Samuel McDowall E C W T Dalby generalalissimo Oscar Groshell captain general A M Grant prelate S D Evans S W R L Scannell J W A Gebhardt treasurer L R Smith recorder I George Cullins standard bearer Julius Gauer sword bearer S D I Jones warder J Fred Corker sent ne E P Newell first guard Harry I Woodman second guard W B Holland Hol-land third guard finance committee I John S Scott George Cullins and Samuel Paul Past Commapder C B Jack acted as installing officer A I pleasant social time and a banquet were enjoyed after the ceremonies On Wednesday evening the Shrine met and elected officers as follows Samuel McDowall potentate Julius Gauer chief rabban Frank Foote assistant as-sistant rabban Hyrum Johnson high priest and prophet W F Dalby oriental guide G S Clark recorder H M Bacon treasurer A M Grant representative to imperial council The installation of these officers will take place on the second Wednesday Wednes-day in January The installations in Mount Morlah lodge will take place next Thursday and those of the Chapter on Saturday evening which will complete the work of installation for the present season Argenta lodge will work in the first degree on Tuesday evening The Masonic board of relief will reorganize re-organize the first Monday in January the newly elected worshipful masters of the blue lodges taking the place of the retiring members of the relief board This important branch of the order has done very good work during the past year Twentynine poor but deserving brothers received help and a number of sick folk were cared for in the hospitals at the expense of the board The board has the power to levy an annual per capita tax of 3 on all members of the blue lodges Last year only 150 per capita was required The relief board is sustained by members mem-bers of the blue lodges exclusively |
