Liquor HOUSE WASHINGTON July 3The attendance in the House was largo this morning Tho antisilver Democrats were full of confidence dence and the Republicans alert The oil yer men were determined but evidently have little hope success Their programme was suddenly changed this morning They resolved to force the fighting and make the engagement DECISIVE OF THE SILVER QUESTION so they resolved to adopt tho unusual course of voting against the previous question ques-tion on the adoption of the special rule allowing al-lowing the bill to be called up I defeatcd It would be regarded as a test vote I they succeeded in defeating the previous question the plan would be to offer ana an-a to the rule permitting an amendment of the bill to cure the obiec tions made in caucuses and also cloture so sate Insure u final vote on the passage of the bill as amended The ball was opened by Catchings Speaker Crisps lieutenant who requested from the Committee on Rules a resolution tp make the silver bill the special order of I the day ExSpeaker Reed as the representative repre-sentative of the Republicans was on his I feet instantly and at the conclusion of the readingof the motion by the clerk moved Ito I-to lay the resolution on the table The speaker I DECLINED TO RECOGNIZE REID j ruling that Catch ng8 had tbe floor Reed insisted on his right to make a motion in i advance from Caterings
