Show UTAH DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY Engrossed Resolutions on the Death of Wendell Benson Shortly after the death of Wendell I Benson the Utah Democratic society f I adopted suitable resolutions which I were referred to a committee to have engrossed These resolutions were sent to New York by the committee and I I were engrossed by Mr Dennis one of I the foremost artists in the country in pen work They have now been received I re-ceived and the work was exhibited at the meetine of the club last night and greatly admired This Is undoubtedly the finest piece of engrossing In the territory ter-ritory and will be highly prized by the family of the deceased The resolutions which have not been heretofore published are as follows i Whereas In the dispensation of hI divine providence it has pleased great ruler of the universe to call from mortality our late colleague friend and counselor Wendell Benson and Whereas In view of the loss we have thus sustaned and the still heavier loss sustained by his wife and child and by the business community of which he was one of the strongest pillars pil-lars i is but just that his many virtues vir-tues and noble traits of character should be fittingly recognized by us therefore be it Resolved That in his departure from this life we sincerely miss his cordial handshake his cheerful voice and pleasant face that we sadly anourn his demise so soon after crossingthe threshold thres-hold of vigorous manhood while the future was apparently s full of hope promise and prosperity Resolved That in our natural sorrow we lament the misfortune of our club In being deprived of the presence and services of one of Its organizers and most useful and enthusiastic members that we cherish his memory as a devoted de-voted husband an indulgent parent an upright man and an exemplary citizen who was noble in Instinct courageous b y heritage and liberal by enlightenment enlighten-ment Resolved That we deeply sympathize with those who were bound to tho deceased de-ceased by the tenderest ties of relationship relation-ship and humanity in their affliction and profound sorrow and that we commend com-mend them for consolation to Him whose power and will are infinite and whose acts surpasseth the understand ing of men and trust that theythat we all may meet In the Golden Summer Sum-mer Land of the Great Beyond and renew re-new ourassociations and ties of friendship friend-ship there and that the holy bonds thus formed may unite us asv the link < of an endless chain in our journey 1 through the flowery walks of future 1 lfeResolved n Resolved That these resolutions b spread upon the records of this club and that a copy thereof be transmitted to the family of the deceased transmited of the respect and esteem in which he was held by us > usJOHN T CAINE BYRON GROO JOHN E HANSEN H G WHITNEY J A WILLIAMS |
