| Show THE PANAMA SCANDAL The Government Now Desires a Complete Investigation PAS Dec 12In the senate today M Lacombe questioned the government as to its attitude on the Panama investigation investi-gation Bonrgois minister of justice declared amid the cheers of the supporters support-ers of the government that he desired a most complete and searching light thrown upon the affairs of the company He added however that he and his colleagues col-leagues would oppose the passage of any special law that threatened to involve a possible conflict between executive legislative legis-lative and judicial authority The chamber of deputies today adopted the proposal made by M Do Boisferin to invest the Panama investigation committee commit-tee with judicial powers This action was taken despite the opposition of sL Bourgois minister of justice The bill providing for a tax on contracts for future delivery of stocks and bonds passed by a majority of thirty Rouvier minister of finance opposed the bill but his opposition opposi-tion availed but little I i After further debate LaCbur offered a resolution of confidence in the government govern-ment which was adopted by a vote of 223 to 1 |
