Show MISSOURI LABOR STATISTICS Tho Report of the Mate Commissioner i Submitted JEFFERSON CITT Mo Nov 2State Labor Commissioner Hall authorizes the following quotation from his forthcoming report The increase in wages since 1890 has been very general with one exceptional decrease no change having occurred in the past two years except in the case of cabinetmakers cab-inetmakers who obtained I reduction of hours without any change of 7ages Various Var-ious trades secured similar reductions some two years ago and other trades have by reason of strong labor unions secured an advance in wages during the last twelve years amounting from 8 to 20 per cent The cooper trade shows a greater loss not so much in the rates paid as in the loss of time through the introduction of machinery machin-ery The horsecollar makers follow in the some manner and in some cases voluntarily volunta-rily reduced to prevent tho Inroads of machinery ma-chinery the decreased earnings In their trade amounting to l23 par cent during tho decade The sharpest advance was made in the wages of unskilled or ordinary labor The wages of workingmen have especially been protected the past three i years |
