Show PRICES AR NOW ADVANCING Tide Has Suddenly Turned in LiveStock Live-Stock Affairs It is now very evident that the tide has turned and that the attendant run will be very healthy and strong for the livestock market Encouraging news has been received from the three chief markets during the past few days and hose on the inside are firm in the belief that the quotations on sheep and cattle will make some more material advances In the near future Good beef cattle have already advanced from 35 cents to 60 cents and all grades show an encouraging improvement Utah is making some heavy shipments although hough there has been a lull during the past few days but others are scheduled for this week As a general proposition livestock throughout the territory is in good condition for either shipment or wintering but while the indica ions are very favorable for a continued tons ver advance in the quotations of both cat advnce tie and sheep the growers are not being be-ing advised to hold off there still being some fears of a reverse On the general market the George Burk Frazier commission house of South Omaha in its last weekly market letter says For the first time in many weeks we are able to quote a good strong advancing market from Monday morning morn-ing till Saturday night on cattle of all kinds Receipts show a big falling off I at the three markets Chicago being 1 23000 short of the previous week Kansas Kan-sas City 5000 and Omaha 9000 As compared with the same week last of 6000 year Omaha shows a shortage making a total shortage for the year at this point of over 10000 head V The heavy runs of range cattle are practically ended and while scattering shipment will continue to arrive for some time yet we must look to other sources for our supplies of beef cattle A those other sources are not very praising in their nature just at the present time the general inference is I that a scarcity of stock will soon develop de-velop inducing stronger competition and higher values Inducements for those who are feeding corn are now stronger than ever to put cattle in good frm condition before marketing and it is to be hoped that there will be no undue haste in taking them from the feed lots The supply must be lighf at best and when all possibilities I possi-bilities are considered including the hayfed stock from the west that will come later on there must still be a deficiency de-ficiency of material to meet the prospective I pros-pective good demand The past weeks trading is but an index of what is to come and it will take but a short tIme under such conditions to put beef stock up to giltedged figures The I week just closed gave us more corned I corn-ed cattle than our market has seen for months but it was promptly taken at most encouraging figures The proportion of cows and butchers butch-ers stock has been moderate about 160 loads for the week and a good strong demand advanced prices on this class of stock 30 to 40 cents Rough stock has shared in the general advance ad-vance and finds ready sale at good fig ures Veal calves are in prime request j the better kinds selling at 350 to 5 with numerous sales at 4 to 475 ji I Although trading in feeders has not been heavy shipments for the week being only 173 loads the demand has kept well up to the supply preventing accumulations in the speculators hands and sending prices forward 20 to 30 cents as compared with n week soThe I The receipts of sheep at the three markets show quite a falling off being i 8000 against 99000 for the previous i week 89000 for two weeks ago and 17000 three weeks ago Prices have j 1 been struggling hard for an advance H and marked a little further improve 3 mont though not enough to inspire I any great degree of confidence Exporters are making their influ t ence felt in the trade and as one of i our correspondents puts it if i it has i quit raining sheep there should be a i continued improvement a j Everything is higher here today cows and steers advancing 10 to 15 cents making a total of near 50 and 60 cents since Saturday a week ago It 1 looks like shipping time for those I < are ready Messrs Sminders and Tlsdale have gone south to
