Show rOT JUSTIFIABLE Vcrilipt oC the Coroner in the Wash InKtoii Court House Case Washington Court House Ohio Nov 15Coroner J lI Edwards today concluded con-cluded an inquisition n the five perSons per-sons that were shot in front of the r court house in this < placE on the night of October 17 Thefollowing is his verdict ver-dict dictAfter having Viewed the bodies and heard the evidence I do find that the ad e deceased Smith Welch Johnson Jesse I Judy William A Sams and Theodore Ammerman came to their deaths with being struck while in front of the courthouse court-house on the evening of October 1 1894 with leaden balls fired from the interior of the court house in Washington court house by the Ohio state national I guard who were under command of James Cook as sheriff and Colonel A B Colt as colonel of the Fifteenth regiment < Ohio National Guards and I do find that at the time of firing by the guards there was no imminent danger dan-ger of serious destruction of property or of harm to any one inside the court house or the remotest dancer of thc prisoner William Dolby colored being wrested from the custody of Sheriff Cook JAMES I EDWARDS Corone The coroner has turned over all the testimony taken in the inquest and his verdict to the prosecuting attorney and the action of the court is now awaited with intcrse interest |
