Wrong Business Methods I think there should be a change in the way in which our wholesale merchants do business said 1 prominent business man toa HERALD reporter yesterday Tho time given must either be shortened or tho profits lengthened As it is now our nur chasers have to be allowed thirty or sixty days Then when their bills fall fal duo they get an extension of thirty days and i takes them about thirty days longer to get the money to us finally This practically gives them three or four months time and the result is that we can only turn our money over about three times a year so that a firm must have a capital of 250000 in order to do a 750000 business busi-ness in a year which is all wrong Now in the eastern cities they make their col lections every Monday morniqg and the merchants can turn their money over many more times in a year than we can Consequently Conse-quently they can sell on a smaller margin than we and hare a big advantage over us There is no reason why we should continue con-tinue in the old ways which may have bean all right once but are decidedly behind be-hind the times now Further than this I think the wholesale men should organize for their own protection decide upon a policy and stick to it closely Should there be a Judas among us he will be discovered and wo can easily kill him off Postal Notes Business slacked up a little at the post
