and Good Shape The twentyninth session of the Territorial Territo-rial Legislature met yesterday at 2 oclock nearly all the members being present The first business was the taking of the monstrosity mon-strosity known as the EdmundsTucker oath which was administered by Secretary Secre-tary Sells and about the only matter of importance was the governors message which was brief and in that way at least coma ended itself to the legislators and spectators who listened to it Thero are many changes in tho roll call made in the same place two years ago and both houses show many new faces although in some instances a transfer has been made from the House to the Council Below is a complete com-plete list of the Councilors and the districts dis-tricts they are from First District Joseph Barton and in its stead we see that of W C Hall Elias A Smith is absent but F S Richards Rich-ards answers to the title of the gentleman from the Sixth district and healso wields the gavel that President Smith swung so gracefully two years ago W G Collett sayshere when the name of the councilor from the Sixth district is called and the tone of his voice is not unlike un-like that of Richard Howe who was there before him A 0 Smoot jr who represented the Eighth district two years since is suc ceded by John E Booth Abram Hatch jumps from the Representative Represen-tative of the Eighteenth district in the House to Councilor from the Ninth t Councior succeeding suc-ceeding J P Wimmer W A C Bryan comes backagain to represent rep-resent the people of the Eighth district and C F Olson has also been returned from the S cond W H Seegmiller who two years ago very ably represented the Twentyfirst district in the House now appears as Councilor Coun-cilor from the Eleventh district The Twelfth district is taken care of by Robert C Lund who succeeds E G Wnolley From this it will be seen that there are bin two members in the Council who served two years ago and they are Messrs Olsen and Bryan last session by John Clark People C E Allen Lioeral comes back again but ir tin the Twelfth district instead of Eighth while his chair is filled by VV H Smith Liberal Allen succeeds E D Hoge Liberal u Abram Hatch will be missed from the House The gentleman who takes his place is Lycurgus Johnson J A Melville who was watchman in the House two years since now appears as representative from the Nineteenth district dis-trict succeeding W H King Anton Lund the father of the reform school bill and who gained the reputation of being one of the solid men of the south is succeeded by C N Lund William H Reid the young member for the Twentyfirst district appears in the place of W H Seegmiller P T Farnsworth who made a hard fight two years ago to have the reform school situated at Fort Cameron is also absent His successor is W E Robinson R W Heybournes successor is W P Sargent who his friends say will be frequently fre-quently heard from The familiar face of W T Stewart is seen again TH WELCOME There were the usual scenes in and around the House and Council yesterday A greater portion of the members who had been returned had seen each other but a few ties since he adjournment adjourn-ment of the last legislative body With these there were the usua handshakings and good wishes and from them congratulations to the new member most of whom appear for the first time upon the floorof a legislative clamber W H King was among the old members I who were present to welcome their successors suc-cessors to the new fields of labor D C McLaughlin who has served two I terms in the House was also an interested spectator |
