Show BUSINESS INTERESTS k E c The Cooperative Wagon and Machine Companys Showing I ITS BIG RECORD IN A FEW YEARS The Real Estate Sales Made Yesterday and FlIed for Record Up till Five Oclock Last Evening The stockholders of the Cooperative Wagon Machine company held their annual an-nual meeting last evening when the president presi-dent read his annual report as follows Gentlemen J take pleasure In making this my fifth annual report and submitting to you the secretarys report showing the condition of your business at the close of the year 18S9 It is very gratifying to me indeed to be able to report re-port that the business of the company for 18S9 was as satisfactory as that for 1888 The increase in-crease of trade was even greater than we had anticipated Our total sales for 18S3 were 5375 85089 and for 1889 were SSlSlSSl an increase of 137333 03 or over 35 per cent On the 15th day of October 18S9 a 5 per cent dividend was paid on the capital stock of the company The directors have declared an additional addi-tional dividend of 7 per cent to be paid on demand de-mand in merchandise or on February 1 in cash malting In all 12 per cent for the year Two years ago it became necessary if j we continued con-tinued to hold the agency of the Champion machines resign the Walter A Wood We decided In favor of retaining the Wood machine being convinced that the Walter A Wood machines are the best in the market The wisdom of our decision has been approved by the public as will be seen by the following In 18b7 we sold 291 machines of the various kinds manufactured by the Walter A Wood Co in 18SS we sold 515 an Increase of 232 in lbS3 we seld 518 an increase of 225 In one of my former reports I find the following follow-ing The Walter A Wood machines arc fast becoming recognized as the best in the market and give greater satisfaction to our patrons than any machines we have ever sold From the above very handsome increase of sales of these machines made during the past two years I feel justified in saying that the Walter A Wood machines are now acknowledged to be the best in this market The Bain i di Mitchell wagons still continue to give perfect satisfaction to all our patrons In 18S8 we sold 1019 and in 18301171 an increase in-crease of 452 These figures speak more eloquently elo-quently than words of the high esteem in which the Mitchell and Bain wagons are held by the public The Oliver Chilled and John Deer Moline steel plows have always taken the lead in this territory terri-tory and still remain the favorite with the fanning community Our sales in 1889 for these goods show a handsome increase especially on Gilpin sullcys The Miller buggies and carriages maintain their universal reputation for fine work and durability The improved Massillon thresher is growing in popularity each year our sales of these machines ma-chines being something over 10 per cent in excess ex-cess of those for 1SSS The gift of one of those threshers at the October fair ilicitcd favorable comment and will no doubt do much to increase the sales in 1890 Fora standard grade buggy we have never handled any watch gave the une satisfaction as the Hiram W Davis buggies Our trade in this line ot goods in 1889 was over 300 per cent greater than in 1SSS We have secured the agency of the Ohio Buggy company of Columbus Ohio They manufacture manufac-ture a high grade of goods for which we find a ready sale In 1888i e seemed the agency of the F C Austin Manufacturing companys well boring machinery which is giving universal satisfaction Our sales in 1889 in these machines have been very satisfying i By careful and prompt attention to business and by representing none but first clabs goods our company has grown to the proud distinction of being the leading implement house in Utah On the 1st of the present month the cash capital capi-tal of the company was increased from 150000 to 8200000 There were applications for nearly double the amount of increase I take pleasure in congratulating the stockholders stock-holders that our business for 1889 shows such avery a-very handsome increase over that of the pre ious year By carefully consulting the best interests of our patrons I anticipate for 1SVO the customary liberal patronage of the public I remain very respectfully yours HEBER J GRANT president The report was accepted and the follow elected
