Show The Accident to the Seventh Cavalry I TOPEICA Kan Jan Particulars of a collision between a passenger train and the special bearing United States troops from Pine Ridge which occurred last evening on the Union Pacific railroad at Florence near Irvine Kan have been received here The special train consisted of seven passenger passen-ger cars and twentyfour freight cars and I had on board 400 soldiers part of the I Seventh cavalry and a battery of light artillery ar-tillery b und for Fort Riley Three engines en-gines and several cars are a complete wreck Many of the soldiers were seriously seri-ously and at least two fatally injured The dead so far as can be ascertained are Sergeant Ser-geant Srhortbat artillery E cut all to pieces Private Mai troop G Seventh cavalry cav-alry left leg cut off and head smashed None of the passengers of the other train were injured A brakesman was hurt The conductor of the military train is held responsible re-sponsible for the accident as he was running run-ning on the express trains time He has disappeared A large number of cavalry horses were killed |
