Show President Hontts Address Special to THE HERALD Examiner Dispatch NEW YOlK Nov UA Herald Valparaiso Valpar-aiso special says In his speech Friday night to the young men in the plaza at Santiago San-tiago Admiral Montt said in regard to the charge that the United States legation sheltered refugees who were still engaged in plotting mischief he knov positively that Minister Egan had interdicted the sending out of letters by refugees unless the letters were subject to inspection I any such messsages had left the legation Admiral Montt added he was sure i was without the knowledge of Minister Egan and that i the matter had been brought before Mr Egan he would have caused the expulsion of the offender from the asylum Montts remarks are the strongest sort of evidence that he desires to protect the legation and this belisf is strengthened by the presence of a squadron of cavalry in the vicinity of the legation during the time that the meeting on the plaza was going on |
