Show PLEASANT PLACE TO LIVE I A Strangers Impressions of Thrifty Utah County AMERIOVX FORK Utah Dec 16 1S90 Correspondence of THE HERALD Thinking Think-ing a few lines from this point might interest inter-est your readers I have decided to Bend you a few items for publication First want to criticise a local which appeared ap-peared in the last issue of THE HERALD saying there was a foot of snow in Utah county Now in the valley where the people live there is no snow and has not been this winter yet There have been several snow storms in the mountains and some claim there is from four to six feet of snow there but there was probably afoot a-foot of snow on some of them all last summer sum-mer A careful observation during the two months we have been here has convinced con-vinced us that in many respects this is one or aa nne valleys as we ever saw The clImato is mild and healthful and the soil very productive Fruits of all kinds small grains vegetables and grasses prow in abundance Late frosts in the spring and early frosts in the fall caused by the cold air from the adjacent snowcapped mountains moun-tains settling down into the valleys at night render the season too short to raise corn successfully The winter so far has been very mild The coldest it has been yet was on tho morning of December 10 when the thermometer registered 18 degrees de-grees above zero and the beauty of it allis all-is there is no wind The mines promise early and paying development de-velopment The natural scenery especially especi-ally in Utah valley is grand All things considered we think Utah is a very pleasant pleas-ant place to live L E COUNTRYMAN |
