Show Affairs at Chejenne City PIERRE S D Dec 19 George Morris a storekeeper at Cheyenne City near the mouth of Cherry Creek has just arrived He says the entire population of twenty families also a number of friendly Indians have left there some going to Fort Bennett SOlO to Oaks and others to Pierre He says that just before leaving leav-ing there night before lust twenty Indians from Slum Bull s band arrived and held D big council coun-cil with the Cherry creek Indians to see whether they should fight or not and they were joined after the council by over one hundred and fifty Cherokees all of whom started for the bad lands Morris tays during the time the refugees were getting away to the bad lands sharp firing was heard between the Indian police and the hostiles that a battle was no doubt fought but as the settlers made haste to reach the towns he can no further give turtler particulars particu-lars As troops were ordered to that point yesterday yes-terday it is believed the hostiles were routed and captured Morris says Sitting Bulls Indians In-dians were well armed and determined to avenge Bulls death |
