Show CONVICTED OF LARCENY The Unpleasant Position In Which Dr Ed Isaacson Finds Himself The news that Dr Ed Isaacson of American Fork had been convicted of uceny created quite a sensation in this ty Following is an account of the affair as given by the Enquirer I will no doubt be read with considerable surprise by many manyLast I Last Saturday American Fork was startled by the news that Dr Isaacson had been arrested on the charge of larceny It appears that while Isaacson was in Sandy last February lecturing he occupied a room in the house of Mrs Ostermann After he had left the town a gold watch belonging to Miss Ostermann which was a present from her dead father was missed The watch had been in a dressing case in the room which Isaacson had occupied The young lady informed a lady friend of this city of what had occurred and this lady in turn laid the case before Officer Wilkins Mr Wilkins at once commenced work on the case He did all he could without with-out assistance and then he secured the services of Mayor Robison of American Fork and together the two succeeded in finding traces of the watch It had been offered for sale to several parties and each time he tried to sell the watch ho told a different story as to how he fS came in possession pos-session of it Messrs Robison and Wilkins Wil-kins went to Salt Lake and visited all the jewelry stores but the watch was not found At last it was found at the Coop store in Lohi where it had been pawned for 22 82 Last Saturday Isaacson was arrested He also confessed to stealing the watch and asked for two hours in which to get it This was granted him and he went to Lehi and got the watch He confessed to having stolen a watch from Garffs store at Lehi which had been pawned to a gentleman near the mouth of American Fork cafidn for S25 This watch had been left at the store by Miss Clara Southwick for the nurnose of having her name engraved on ft It was lying on the counter and while the clerks attention was occupied in another direction direc-tion Isaacson who was in the store for the purpose of collecting an advertising bill slipped the watch in his pocket He was fined 50 in each case and at last reports was skirmishing for the cash withoutmuch prospect of obtaining it I is reported that the doctor is in possession of a pair of diamond dia-mond earrings valued at S175 Whither they came from 01 whither they belong no man knoweth save it be the Doc |
