Show I HE CHRISTMAS HERALD The publishers and editors are both pleased and proud of THE CIIUISTJIAS HERALD which goes to the world this morning on a mission for good We have pride in the quantity and quality of the contents and pleasure in the financial support sup-port which its pages show Those who are at all familiar with the publishing industry in-dustry in the interior west will understand under-stand when they see the paper how great was the undertaking to get out such a publication with the limited facilities to be found hereabouts and newspaper men everywhere will appreciate the labor involved in-volved in collecting arranging and printing the matter presented in the holiday edition Outside of California and possibly Colorado in none of the far western states or territories terri-tories hasthere been a publication which in any sense compares with THE CHRISTMAS HERALD Holiday papers have been issued but they have usually been small affairs compared com-pared with this one and where they have pretended to anything like greatness the mechanical and the artistic work has been done elsewhere THE CIIIUSTMVS HERALD is a Utah production With the exception of the front cover page lithograph it was printed in this office with very few exceptions excep-tions and they are not the most meritorious meritor-ious the illustrations are by Utah artists the matter is largely from Utah pens and the financial patronage which has made the issue possible comes almost exclusively from Utah people Is there not in all these facts something to be proud of 8 We think there is and so do the people of Utah generally They are proud of the literary talent which is found in the pages of the i paper of the poetic genius there displayed of the grand showing which the city and territory make of the liberality and sagacity saga-city of our business men of the circumstance circum-stance that there is a printing office here which can get out such a paper and of the courage and enterprise of the publishers who have undertaken such a work I THE HERALD does not speak thus in a i boasting sense as regards itself but of Utah and her grand and progressive people peo-ple It is they who have done this and we are proud and pleased because in doing it they have given to the world a striking illustration and irrefutable evidence of their ability their enterprise their pros prosperity and their progressiveness The attention of all our r aders both tear and far is directed to TUB CHRISTMAS HERALD In its pages you will find a truthful pen picture of Utah as it exists today to-day and from that you will be able to opine as to the future The aim has been to state only facts and to make the presentation presen-tation in a way that will be most acceptable to the average reader and have the best impression im-pression on his mind Whene ° er possible possi-ble dry tables wearying statistics have been avoided the facts being given in amore a-more presentable form That THE CIIHISTMAS HERALD will do much good all will concede An edition of 23000 copies has been printed and they will go to every continent and every country coun-try of the civilized globe For days past orders have been coming in from the different differ-ent states and territories of the union and for Europe and as was the case a year ago individuals are assisting the office in sending send-ing the issue to every known land The harvest may be confidently looked for and i it will surpass in bounteousness and excellence I excel-lence the expectations of the sanguine |
