Show MINISTEKIAL DECLARATION Its Heading in the Senate and Chamber Cham-ber of Deputies PARIS February 23The ministerial declaration w3 read in the Senate and Chamber Deputies today It says in responding to the Presidents appeal ap-peal We have not hid from ourselves our-selves the difficulties of the hour and are sustained by the thought that you will not refuse to cooperate with men presenting themselves to you Determined Deter-mined to accomplish the duty required by tbe situation our great tasks will be to secure the option of the budget of 1889 and to assure by broad tolerant and wise policy the success of the exhibition ex-hibition which will show to industrious and pacific France the peoples industry in-dustry and work We hope you satisfactorily conclude con-clude other important measures such as military laws the discussion of which has commenced We consider that the governments prir ipal duty Is to prepare pre-pare for all Repub ans and all Frenchmen French-men loving order and liberty ground for common energetic and decisive notion no-tion with a view to def nd aqd strengthen the rule of peace justice and progress which France in founding found-ing a republic desired to give itself The success of our policy depends upon our firmness and vigilance on which you may rely While deciding to cover with our responsibility the officials devoted to their duties we shall severely judge faults and shortcomings shortcom-ings We consider it our imperative duty to resolutely taka all measures necessary to maintain order and respect for the public by cunteracting or if necessary representing factions and enterprises The declaration was received with cheers by the members |
