Pursuant to law the following notice was ordered by the court Notice is hereby given that the United States marshal on Wednesday March 27 1889 in open court will fairly draw by lot from the jury box of this court twenty names of persons to act as grand jurors and thirty names of persons to act as petit jurors for tho April term of this court 18S9 Grand jurors returnable April 15 1889 at 11 oclock am and tho petit jurors April 15 1S89 at 11 oclock am tt The Sharp Divorce Case Sarah Sharp whoso husband William Sharp recently brought suit for divorce in the Third district has filed her answer She denies oach and every allegation of the plaintiff and further answering alleges That there are four living children the issue of the marriage between herself and tho plaintiffJohn Sharp Eliza Sharp William Sharp and Sarah Jane Sharp all over the age of twentyone years That for a number of years past the plaintiff has pursued such a course of conduct towards her as to causo her to suffer suf-fer great mental anguish and distress that he invariably staid out lato at nights i frequently coming home at 2 and 3 oclock in the morninr that on one occasion he turned her out of her room in her nightclothes night-clothes and squeezed her hand between the door and the door post wounding and bruising bruis-ing her in i a terrible manner that the plaintiff liH Ii h r tiff for several years past has been in the habit of visiting another woman with whom she tile defendant had frequently found him on going out to search for him late at night that by reason of his attentions atten-tions and time being engrossed by this other woman plaintiff has not for more than two years prior to September 1 ISSi eaten his dinner defendants house on Sundays or any other day that when remonstrated with on his conduct towards plaintiff he would use such expressions as If dont like my ways kick me outHunt you MJ tu t ckeau i Hunt mne out Cant you kick an old dog like me out That defendant believes be-lieves he pursued such a Course towards her with the deliberate intention of enraging en-raging her to such an extent as to cause her to retaliate and use hard words in order that he might have a cause of action against her That on September 1 1SS7 the plaintiff took from defendant most of the household furniture and bedding turned over everything in the house went to the bedroom of her eldest daughter before be-fore she was dressed and on finding the door locked demanded admission threatening threaten-ing to break it down with an axe unless un-less he could got in saying further that he would have the stove if he had to take it over the dead boly of the defendant That when defendant asked plaintiff what she was going go-ing to do for a living if he deserted her he answered Go andrustle for a living like other folks g fs defendant left her without any food in the house and has only partially supported her since that time although he was a strong ablebodied man and earning about 830 nor week Therefore she prays That an order be made requiring the plaintiff to pay into court the sum of S100 as attorneys fees ani the further sum of 100 for her maintenance main-tenance pending this tried today at 2 p m Thomas Croft George Croft and Arvid Gilberg were tried on a charge of larceny stealing a watch The first named was adjudged ad-judged guilty and the other two were acquitted ac-quitted The guilty one will be sentenced today Kate Boley charged with selling liquor on Sunday was discharged The case against Annie Baker one of the girls charged with residing in ahouse of ill fame was dismissed on motion of the prosecution prose-cution Katie Hicks found guilty of keeping a house of illfame was sentenced to pay a fine of 100 or serve a term of 100 days in the county jail Mattie Thompson for residing in a house ol illfame was fined 50 Panoho Velo G A Sawyer and William McDonald the last of the resorters were fined F0 each Charles Kays drunk and profane was fined 10 Mary Kraut was found guilty of battery upon Isabella McKendrick it being shown that the former had given the latter a shower bath in scalding hot water as a means of settling some little neighborly difference between the two Mary was fined 10 Several druggists were arrested on the charge of selling liquor without a license and will have a hearing today D Farrington who pleaded guilty to a charge
