Show THE CITY COUNCIL t A Brief and Uninteresting Session Held Last Evening At the regular weekly meeting of the City Council held last evening Mayor V Armstrong presided Promptly at 7 the gavel fell and after the usual pre limenaries the following business was transacted PETITIONS From L J Aubrey asking that permission per-mission be granted him to place a water tank on the side walk opposite his residence in Nineteenth ward in order that he might have a supply of water Committee on irrigation From WE Bassett and other residents on G StreetTwentieth wardasking that the water mains be laid from Sixth street to First street Committee on waterworks 4 From John Blakempre directing the attention of the Council to the fact that City Creek had washed into his lot and damaged his property He asked that attention be paid to it beforehigh water arrived aud that the damages already resulting be repaired Referred to the city watermaster V Philip Margetts M E Brown A J Taysum Witson Busby J M Kennedy and Barr Bougard applied for licenses as retail liquor dealers Granted REPoafS Thecity supervisor presented a statement state-ment of expenditures on street and road account for the quarter ending February 23th last showing a total amount expended of 480939 leaving a balance on hand at end of quarter of 10961 This was exclusive of prison labor used Committee on streets and alleys The chief engineer of the Fire Department De-partment presented his report for the quarter ending February 23th showing the number of fires during that time the number of miles traveled the amount of hose used and the loss by fire expenses of the department depart-ment during that time etc The total expenditures for the quarter were 3 05244 Referred to the committee on fire department APPROPRIATIONS One thousand dollars was appropriated appro-priated to the supervisors contingent fund Adjourned till Tuesday next at 7 pm |
