Show THE CHICAGO Herald is evidently familiar with the fellows who are plotting for the roboery of the people of Utah through the Tucker bill which was lobbied through the House by Governor West and fellow agents of the Loyal League The Herald tells of the industry thrift and accumulations of the Mormons and then says On the wealth of this hierarchy the Gentiles Gen-tiles who do not number more than one tenth of the population of Utah have long feasted their eyes They would like to share it They do not wish > to become Mormons either monogamous or polygamous polyg-amous but they do want a chance at the Mormon trade the Mormon property and the Mormon riches That is the secret of the turbulent and inflammatory opposition in Utah to the Mormon Church It is unceasing un-ceasing in its activities and limitless in its bitterness It will sot rest until the accumulations accumu-lations of these thrifty people are taken fromthem indjmadw the spoil of politicians and adventurers Of course this is no theo the-o reason of their hostility The motive which they assign is a burning desire to extirpate polygamy bpt everybody knows that this is a mere pretext |
