Show Collision Between Ships PORTLAND Ogn Dec 2iAt 130 oclock this morning the Union Pacific steamer Oregon ran into and sank the British ship ClanMcKenzie on the Columbia river ten miles below Kalamath Charles Austin and Matthew Reid colored sailors on the ship were asleep in the forecastle fore-castle of the ClanMcKenzie and were cut ip two by the shot bow of the Oregon when it penetrated the side of the ship Another sailor was badly injured None of the passengers and but one of the crew of the Oregon were hurt Tho captain of the ClanMcKenzie says his ship was at anchor with all lights properly displayed The ClanMcKenzie was valued at 80000 and the damage to the Oregon will amount to 10000 |
