Show = THE GHASTLY TENANT A Horrible Discovery in the Wasatch Block A ghastly discovery was made on the second floor of the Wasatch Building late yesterday afternoon The premises lately occupied Peacock as a saloon and some of the rooms above are soon to be fitted up for a job office and workmen were engaged there yesterday in rcaking the necessary alterations The kAY of one room that they desired to enter was missing and in order to force an entrance a pane of glass was broken out No sooner had this been accomplished than a fearful stench greeted the workman and a further examination revealed the fact that a badly decomposed corpse was lying in the room partly covered by the bedclothes bed-clothes The stench was so strong as to permeate almost the entire building Men went in took a look at the room and its occupant and retired sick and deadly pale The authorities were notified of the discovery and as soon as possible the remains were put into a box and taken to the office of Sexton Taylor A jury consisting of Gus King Dr Clinton and a Mr Parker was summoned by the coroner and met at G oclock last evening Nothing definite was developed and an adjournment adjourn-ment was had until oclock today it being the desire of the jurors that a sediment discovered in the bottom of a cup found in the dead mans room should be closely examined It was thought the maa who was not a negro as has been reported but a Dane whose name was unknownhad been dead at least three or four weeks Further particulars will doubtless be learned when the jury completes its investigations in-vestigations today In the meantime the ghastly and sickening spectacle has been removed to the dead house at the City Cemetery the foul stench prohibiting prohibit-ing it remaining in the office of the sexton sex-ton |
