Show GUILD A HOTKI The scheme to bring au immense excursion party from the cities of the West and Northwest to the Salt Lake I and Uiah Valleys is aj good our The railroads are entering into it heartily and will do their lull share We do not doubt that the business men of Provo Ogden and Salt Lake will also do their proportionate share in the matter all combining to make a grand I succes of the undertaking It should result in great advantage to the cities named for fifteen hundred or two thousand enterprising men from Chicago Chi-cago St Paul tit Louts Alinneapol s Milwaukee Omaha Kansas City and j other progressive Western cities to come here soj urn a scenery and luxurious climate and examine the abundant opportunities here presented for the profitable investment in-vestment of captal and the creation of II homes Some of these excursionists will take advantage of what they see and help themselves and the towns in which they invest It will be worth a good many thousand dollars to Salt Lake and to Utah generally to aJI the class of mm who will come on this June excursion to become interested financially in this country It is to be regretted that the city snot s-not in a better condition to care for the visitors in the matter of hotel ariOm modatious It may give the f jwn a black eye when we tell the strangers that if they have their blavsets and bring along places in whic > i to spread them they may sleep omfortab1y and that they need not svQer for food if they can wait until the guests of the crowded hotels have finished their meals It may has an the departure of some of our visit ors when they learn that from earlf spring until late autumn our hotels are crowded and the proprietors are compelled to hire all tbo rooms they can in private boasts to accommodate their guests and that notwithstanding this condition con-dition of things we havent the enterprise enter-prise to erect other hostelries It may discourage these men ItO learn of these toings but let us hope otherwise let us rather hope that it will encourage some of them to do what some of our citizens should have done i build a large first class hotel and make money init Let us hope that some d OUT visitors will teach us what common sense should have taught us long ago that capital can be profitably invested in building hotels fora city which is crowded with tourists and strangers the year round We will do the very best we can for the accommodation of our coming guests and after doing all we can for them we will usk them not to be offended withour poor entertainment And then thething does not suggest itself to them as it probably will do we may ask them to putus up a hotel such as tbay have in all of the cities from which they ivill hail at tae same time assuring them of full and paying patronage |
