Show r PATIENCE AT OGDEN The Town Taken by Storm aud a Repetition Talked of The train which conveyed the Patience Pa-tience Opera company from the Utah Central depot yesterday noon in the language of a railroad pfficial was one of the handsomest trains that ever pulled out of the Utah Central yard and carried off from Salt Lake City one of the most jovial happy companies it has been our good fortune to see crammed cram-med together in railway cars The principals of the Patience company and i friends the ladies and gentlemen of the choruses and accompanying instrumentalists instru-mentalists made up as sociable a congregation congre-gation as was ever assembled for the purpose of an out The trip to Ogden occupied but about fiftylive minutes When the ladies and gentlemen of the company had arranged themselves for their appearance af the mattinee at the Opera House it was discovered that by some mismanagement or other unfortunate un-fortunate circumstance he people of the Junction City were not fully aware of a matinee performance yesterday afternoon but despite this apparent failure to properly advertise there was a fairsized audience to greet the performance per-formance of Patience At the evening 1 f n1a entertainment the house se full and the satisfaction of the Ogden people nianifestedjn oftn > eated and uproarious up-roarious applause Miss Louise Wells who sing and played the part of Sipphir when the I opera was presented here took Mrs Levibergs role of Lady Jane that lady being unable to undertake the trip and made a decided hit in the part being encored several times during the rendition ren-dition of the somewhat difficult charac ter Mr Clawson in the remarkable part of the Solicitor turned the brain of several of the Ogden people by his clever comedy acting and telling singing of the song In Other Respects Im Doing Quite Well in which local remarks and hits were too numerous to mention but which were relished applauded tothe echo by the audiance Mrs Browning who I assumed the role of Sapphir Miss Wells original partdid fairly well and shared the applause bestowed The leading members of the company in the comic opera maintained the reputation earned in Salt Lake City for excellence in both singing and acting while the choristers gave the people of Weber Countys capital an exhibition of vocal skill rarely heard by them Good satisfactionand that embraces em-braces what might be strung out over a column of spacewas the verdict of those who assembled in the Opera House at Ogden and so pleased were the patrons of Patience last evening that there was loud talk of having a repetition of the comic opera in the same place next Monday evening |
