Show Burning Up the Newspapers WASHINGTON July 16A fire brQke out tonight in the building occupied I by the Diiily Post National Republican Washington Critic Sundav Gazette the United States Electric Light Company and several other tenants The editorial composing and press rooms of the four papers are completely ruined and the business offices flooded with water The building was owned by Stetson Hutchins It was valued at 30000 and insured The Post and Republican Repub-lican used the batuu press valued at 20000 insured 15000 The Critic press was valued at 15000 insured In the basement was a J5000 press owned by eiSecretarv Chandler The plates and 5000 copies of Stetson Hutchins1 new book 1 Washington Past and Present ares a total loss The Gazrtte is owqed Jjy Thomas T Morrow whose loss is not heavy The total loss will reach 150 COO about two thirds of which is covered cov-ered byimsurance I The Evening Star at once tendered the use of its office to the Post and RepiMimn and these papers will be issued without interruption |
