Show DEATH OF LIZZIE BOYD I A Strange Affair was It Foul Play or Suicide AnetfcK chapter in the history efot1e girl Lise1 e Boyd who figuredas the complaTnaat Jn the charge brought agairistXrs Thurgood some time ago 13 to be written this morning Shortly I after the girl made the complaint referred re-ferred to above she left the city but soon returned and it was rumored that she had again taken up her residence with Mr Chadd the grocer at whose place she had lived for so many years Little or nothing was heard or seen ot her however until Wednesday afternoon when she appeared at a stable ouTSecond South Street and asked to be allowed to lie down for awhile She appeared to be consider ablv under the influence of liquor and had a pint flask containing what appeared ap-peared to be gin with her She was granted the privilege asked for and remained re-mained at the stable until about G ocloek yesterday morning when as she was apparently very sick two of the men connected with the stable moved ncr into a house close band b-and asked the lady to attend to her Tnis she promised to do and asked as to what bad better be done She was told to use her own judgment in tho matter The girl remained in It semiconscious state I ah the time and about 2 oclock in the afternoon It was deemed advisable to I send for a doctor Accordingly Dr Nesbit went to sec the girl and gave her a bottle of medicine and some powders She had taken no nourishment and teemed to be gradually sinking when the doctor arrived She wad prevailed upon however to take one dose of medicine and ane of the powders In a short time afterwards after-wards It was apparent that she had but a few hours longer to live nn less something more could be done to bring her around Dr Bened ct was then sent for and just as he arrived about G45 o clock tbe girl breathed her I last Dr Benedict when seen last evening by a HEIUID reporter had no opinion to express to the cause of her I dealh1lS to whether she had snicided or notand while there are many conjectures con-jectures afloat nothing positive can be known until a further examination of the body is had All that she had near her so far as discovered was a pint flask containing about three ounces of gin and this is now in the possession of Dr Benedict But little authentic information could be obtained I as to the reason for the girls making application fora lodging at the stable I The whole affair however wjll be I thoroughly ventilated this morning at the coroners inquest which will beheld be-held at the office of Joseph William Taylor the undertaker to which place the body has been removed |
