Show ABOUT THE COURTHOUSE Two More Arrests Judge Zanes Business ifeetinjr of the Supreme Court Aswarm of deputies surrounded the residence of Thomas Pierrepont the wellknown machinist and L foundry man early yesterday morning with a view to arresting him on the charge o f unlawful cohabitation Mr Pierrepont has not been seen in these parts of late however and It Is scarcely probable that this circumstance will hasten his return The membersof his family were subpoenaed and taken before the Grand Jury during the afternoon Mr Homer Duncan a ailvcrbairec old veteran 72 years of age Imcg in the Eleventh Ward was arrested by the deputies with his two wives and other members of his family on the same charge He was taken before Commissioner Commis-sioner McKay when he waived examination ex-amination Learning that his family would be taken before the Grand Jury he asked permission to testify before tocm Inniselt which being accorded bo told his story as we learn without reseryati n Ills bonds weo fixed at j 1000 Solon Foster and James W Eirdley becoming his sureties In Judge Zanes court the whole day was again occupied in the mining suit of Scott vs Reed from the number of maps drawings surveyors and authorities author-ities in the case it is probable the Judge is acquiring a very considerable acquaintance with mining litigation Patrick Kelly was admitted to citizenship and in the two cases of Royal B Vounir the defendants lawyer was granted till July 15th to file a state nent on appeal On the application of Win Dobbie his name was changed to Wm Dobbie Kuhre The complicated McearsGrocsbeck DalyMorgan cases wero to follow the ScottRied but Judge Zane will hear no more after the latter as the Supreme Court convenes on Monday It is uncertain un-certain how long the three judges will remain in cession as the business before hem is of an extensive nature Among the cases to come up are Bitncr vs the U C Jrailroad Tnhav vs the BroL lyn in both of which the plaintiffs wte awarded damages the ClaytonJck rattRoberts office cases Hoglc w Anderson and possibly the renowned SuUlonBcck which in itself would take a week That Judge Powers should be allowed another shy at this cause how ever scorns to be a great pity |
