Show SEWERAGE HoW the Warinjr System Works in Omaha A reporter ot THE HEEALD yesterday yester-day met W W RIter and asked him what further progress the committee on sanitary affairs of which he is chairman I chair-man had made in grappling with the question of sewerage for Salt Lake In reply he said he hadwritten a letter to Mayor Boyd of Omaha inquiring into the Waring system and had just received re-ceived the following letter which he allowed al-lowed the reporter tocopy OMAHA Neb June 1416SG Jr IP TT Rttcr Safe Lake City Utah Dear SirUpon my return this mom ing after an absence of ten days I found your favor of the lib inst The Waring system of sewerage was adopted by our City Council about four years ago The system as you know con sisU of six inch pipe emptying into a main of say twelve to eighteen or twenty inches in diameter which carries car-ries the sewage to the pont of discharge dis-charge The system is used exclusively for sanitary purposes and cannot be ucd fur surface wate discharge from hydraulic elevators So far it has given perfect satisfac ion and I consider it the cheapest and beat system cZ sanitary sani-tary sewerage ever devised The main sewer wan paid for by bonds issued by tte city the lateral sewers were paid for by property holders Of course the discharge would be very offensive of-fensive but you must conduct it far enough away to avoid this The system is now betas ad pted in Lincoln Nebraska a town of 16000 or 20000 inhabitants If you think of accepting ac-cepting it I advise you to correspond wttlj Col Wuring who will give you full informUnn informUnnYours truly J E BOYD Mayor |
