Show c w Cheering for the Plumed Knight TRENTON N L1 October 5The Republican Re-publican State convention met at noon today Chairman Eobert of the State committee named for temporary chairman exSenator Alex G Cattell of Camden and he was elected Cattell thanked the convention for the honor paid to a nearly worn out veteran in the Republican party He referred to the struggle two years hence when he declared that the Plumed Knight of Maine would be the Republican nominee nomi-nee for President The announcement i set the convention wild with excitement excite-ment Delegates first applauded then cheered and finally fully half of them rose to their feet and waved their hats and hurrah d for several minutes On the conclusion of Cattells speech the election of vicepresidents and the appointment ap-pointment of committees proceeded after which a recess was taken until 2 oclock At 230p m Chairman Cattel called the convention to order the committee on permanent organization reported for permanent chairman of the convention Congressman William Walter Phelps |
