Show Sent Op Recently one James McDermott represented rep-resented to Mr James Horrocks of this city that he had somo 500 deposited de-posited with Xeiari Beckwith t Quinn of Evanston and that he was in need of about 10 He worked upon Mr Hs sympathies until that gentleman consented to endorse McDermotts draft on Beckwith t Quinn to enabe him to draw the money here Then instead of maLinir out the draft for 40 1cDmul it lorI and Mr Horrooks endorsed it wnereupon McDermott took the bill to one of the citv banks ana cashed it The bank promptly forwarded for-warded it to Evanston collection but were informed that the drawer had no funds Mr Horrocks of course had the i100 to pay He also had McDermott McDer-mott arrested and in default of bail Commissioner Wardleipti sent him to the Penitentiary to await the action of the Grand Jury |
