THIS LOAF is tender and light, put together by forming small balls of dough, rolled in a butter, sugar and cinnamon a mixture and placed in a loaf r ft pan to rise. The loaf is then f baked to a golden brown goodness and pulled apart for easy serving. Hot from the oven, or reheated, anyone can put together this light, tender bread, for snacking or for any meal. BUBBLE BREAD 1 cup scalded milk li cup Crisco or shortening Vi cup sugar 1 tsp. salt 2 eggs 2 yeast cakes or The recipe for bubble bread comes this week from Noleen Arbuckle, flanked by her sons. 2 Tbl. dry yeast ' cup water flour, about 4V cups SCALD MILK and add shortening, sugar and salt, cool to lukewarm and add 2 beaten eggs, the yeast dissolved dis-solved in the cup water and add flour to a soft dough. It is not necessary to knead this dough, but mix in flour so dough is not too stiff. Let rise until double, punch down and let rise another 10 minutes. Now melt 1 cube margarine, mix 1 cup sugar with 1 Tbl. cinnamon. BREAK OFF a piece of dough about the size of a walnut and roll in the melted shortening, then in the sugar cinnamon mixture and place in greased loaf pan, in double layers. Put 8 bails of dough on bottom layer and 8 over the top of these. This amount of dough is enough for 2 medium size loaf pans. Let rise until double in bulk and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until a golden brown. Makes 2 loaves in 9x5 inch loaf pans. ROBERT (Bob) and Noleen Arbuckle and sons live at 658 South 100 East, Farmington. Noleen is a Relief Society teacher in her ward and is Primary junior chorister. She enjoys sewing, cooking, art work and her music. Bob is employed at the Freeway Heating and Air Conditioning and the family spends much of their summers at the Bear Lake home of grandparents. THIS RECIPE was one which Dalene Hansen gave Noleen, an old favorite of Dalene's mother. |
