Show The Utah Contested Election Washington 14The House committee t com-mittee on election tonight considered consid-ered the CampbellCannon contest Another session appointed for tomorrow f 4 to-morrow morning at which it is expected ex-pected a decision will be reached i The opinion generally expressed is that the committee will report in favor of sending the election back to the people of Utah It is doubtful j doubt-ful if such a report will be accepted J4 by the House Many of the best lawyers of the body are agreed that the fact of Cannons polygamous record is not a ground upon which the House can legally deny I him admission while it is quite within the province of the House expel him on that account It is 4 urged that should he now go back to the people he would undoubtedly JIbe JI-be reelected by as large a majority r as before and the result would be l rather to add to his power and popularity pop-ularity in the territory Should he however be first seated and then 4 by a twothirds vote be expelled he 4 could not again be admitt by the 3h present House if precedents are followed 3 fol-lowed nor probably to any subsequent It subse-quent House if |
