Show A Fine Out at a Fine Farm Yesterday a party of about a dozen guests of Messrs S S and M H Walker made a trip to that delightful i de-lightful spot situattd at the mouth of the Cottonwood and known as Walkers Farm The drive down was a pleasant one The gentlemen were seated in the elegant drag of the gentlemen abovenamed while the ribbons were handled by Mr S S Walker On the arrival at the farm a tine lunch was set out and after devotin a good time to that a number of pleasant little shooting matches took place during which pigeons and glass balls were pretty badly shattered Those who did not participate in the shoots enjoyed themselves by surveying the many attractions of scenery both natural and artificial that abound there meandering around in the delightful shade cast by the trees watching the thousands of trout in the five large breeding ponds and in other ways enjoying themselves in rural seclusion seclu-sion The party thoroughly enjoyed looking over the large estate and felt themselves under many obligations obliga-tions to their kind and courteous hosts Mr S b Walker by nature is one of those men who while loving enjoyment himself appreciate ap-preciate it infinitely more by being able to see nis friends participate with him and on this occasion as indeed on all others he labored earnestly to make the visitor feel comfortable and at home It is perhaps unnecessary to state that his object was obtained and it is but the truth to say that a happier party never assembled We congratulate I our merchant princes on their capacity capa-city and disposition to share with their friends tose pleasures what business skill industry and economy econo-my the principles that ensure richeshave made it possible and just that they should enjoy |
