Show THE BKAIDWOOD HORROR Sad Scenes at the Dine Braidwood Ills lBThe situation at the scene of the mine disaster is about the same az last night One more name is added to the list of victims that of Harry Eades Work continued all night last night setting pumps and appliances to remove the water but pumping has not begun as the sink hole has not been yet dammed up Some twenty teams and 100 men are hard at work building the dam A large number of people assembled assem-bled at the scene today watching developments de-velopments The company is constantly in receipt of inquiries from all parts of the country asking if some loved one is safe Five more sink holes were discovered discov-ered today the extent of which cannot be ascertained on account of the ice and water which covers the land for miles around An engineer visited the scene today He estimated the amount of water at several million tons and with the present pres-ent pumping capacity it will take twentyfive days to pump out the shaft More pumps are expected soon On Monday superintendents Sweet Cheshire Ches-hire and Fordyce will visit the scene and consult as to the beat and quickest means of recovering the bodies No pains anc expense will be spared No work has been done on the coal field today There are thousands In sympathy who find no heart far work Special services were held in the churches today |
