Show S Salina Notes SALINA July 6 1881 Editors Herald Salina has for the season been and is at present a lively little burg on account of the railroad that is being pushed with vigor Stores are being built by Robbins i Son and Harris and Innis Co have built a large harness and liquor store and are doing a thriving business J W Curtis commenced the groundwork for afine hotel but it became tedious and he vanished to parts unknown The people cooperated against the Coop and erected what is vulgarly known as Apostate Store Our celebration was postponed on account of the sad news received from the east but parties drove up the canyon to view the railroad works etc In the afternoon a baseball base-ball game was played on the square The crops in this part of the county look spendidly and we expect a bountiful harvest Several of the citizens are determined deter-mined to have goodhouses for their abodes Wm McFadyen has built a fine rock postoffice which is tastefully designed and facilitates the distribution distri-bution of mail matter very much from the old process The weather has been very warm with no rain to speak of but we have plenty of water for the land we irrigate NERO |
