Show Presidents Party CAMP ROBERT LINCOLN Wyo T 15 via Fort Washakie HSThe Presidents party left this fork of the Wind river at 630 oclock this morning and followed the Wind river nearly to its source They then commenced the ascent of Rot ert Lincoln pass used by Lieutenant Lieuten-ant General Sheridan last year aud named in honor of the Secretary of War The pass is the shortest and easiest of the routes between the valley of the Wind river and the valley of the Snake river The party reached camp at 11 ocltck havi g travelled about 17 miles The camp ii named Eobeit Lincoln and is situated on the crest of the bat k bone of the rival mountains altitude 0000 feet Within 100 yards of camp are streams which d > w respectively into the Atlantic and Paciie oceans The President spent part of yesterday yester-day trout fishing and returned to camp with the heaviest catch of the parly the average weight of trout being two pounds Surgeon Forward returned to camp having shot an elk of enormous size and weight The other hunters of the party brought in two antelope and a good supply of mountain grouse and wild dusks Tomorrow morning the party commence the descent of Lincoln Pass and will I I camp in the valley of the Grosven Vartree river where the first view of the Teton mountains will be obtained The President and all the rest of the party are in excellent health and spirits |
