here-On account of difficulties no freight r to any extent has been received and forwarded over the Utah Central for nearly thirty days The present is a time when the spring freight business should be actively in force here and the roads would bo put to pretty full work A rumor was on the streets yesterday probably correct cor-rect that the Union Pacific bridge ovtr the Platte had washed away that day It is unlikely however that this will cause any additional delay in freight for the reason that according to dispatches the Union Pacific had made arrangements with the Burlington andMissouri road to run its freight and passenger trains over i if necessary and the chances now are that it will be forced to do so At any rate it will not be long before the Union Pacific has up anew a-new bridge and will be running freight a usual Ihe great difficulty diffi-culty will be in getting rid of accumulated freight A NEW and Elegant Assortment of Silverware just received at E J Swauer Cos 00 Main Lake Canal Company and published in another column it appears that the Utah and Salt Lake Canal which is on the west side of the River Jordan Jor-dan has nearly reached completion and that the trustees realize the importance im-portance thereof The water is t be turned in on or about the frt of Aprl next and the work of finishing finish-ing up prosecuted with such vigor as to ensure the bringing of theater the-ater onto the bench by the 15th day of April next othing can possibly > hinder the final completion thereof to the point of the west mountain a distance of twenty seven miles and we doubt not that thousands of bushels of grain will be irrigated from the canal and raised this season We understand this canal is cal ciliated t irrigate 14000 acres and in a few years will create and con titute the largest and most imppr taut farming and irrigation district of the territory the soil a a rule being of the choicest quality FOR PLAIN and FANCY DRINKS go to the EXCHANGE
